You all sure do take your contests seriously. The votes were incredibly close, but we do have a winner for our Fieldrunners Skyway Maze Contest.

Congratulations RaptorF22! You’re taking home the prize as the contestant with the best Tower Defense Strategy as selected by the voters. Oh, and you also win an iPod Touch 8GB. Congratulations!!

Just curious: how come the winner’s maze, which is supposed to the best maze, is actually resulting in a losing strategy? It’s expensive and RaptorF22 isn’t even able to win Skyway in Medium difficulty using it. It just doesn’t make any sense. Actually even selecting that screenshot among the finalist doesn’t make any sense. Only the middle maze was a winning one!

Curious. Thanks for writing. Of the mazes submitted, these were the top 3 and the voters selected their favorite. All 3 were winners, but one had to win.

Hello admin, and thanks for your quick answer.

I understand that that maze received the most votes, but I just don’t understand the logics behind either its being present among the finalists or its being voted the winner. From my understanding, the contest was to decide “the best Tower Defense strategy”.

Among the three finalists only one maze, the middle one, is actually a good “Tower Defense strategy”. Might be the best. It’s in fact quite impressive: that maze is incredibly efficient (Can you let us know who created it at least?).

But the other two are simply the results of _losing_ strategies.

So I guess people just weren’t very clear on the criteria they should have been using to cast their votes?

Calling the winning maze “the best Tower Defense strategy” _really_ doesn’t make any sense.

In any case, it’s just a (great) game and an interesting contest, so in the end it doesn’t really matter, but I’m a bit disappointed to see that reason and logics do not prevail more often in such ‘votes’.

Curious. Thanks for the reply. It’s great to see that we’ve inspired some passion. I’ll take your thoughts back to the team. I will say, that of the mazes submitted, these were the top 3.

And to address your point, I’ve updated our post. It’s now the best strategy as chosen by the voters. :)

We’ll be having more contests, so let me know what types of games you want to see and any ideas for contests you may have. I’m always interested in getting better ideas out there for the community.

aww i should have sent mine… i was too worried about getting a high score alongside with a good maze – but couldn’t make the deadline, so… if i knew that “any” maze (resulting in a great high score or not) would do it, i should have made on easy difficult…

anyways, i agree with curious, that one doesn’t really look like a decent strategy since the RaptorF22 took a snapshop right before the imminent death, with very little score and who knows in what level…

i also agree that, we all know that the voters came to that, but what about the criteria on selecting the shots? maybe there were too few?!? i should have sent mine gaaah o_O

Always send in your contest entry! Never assume you won’t win!!! There was an 8GB iPod Touch at stake! If I could have entered, I would have too. Stay tuned, we should have more contests in the coming weeks.
